If you want a guaranteed not-so-small fortune, simply invent YouTube… or something similar. Google’s recent purchase of YouTube has been the talk of the blogs – and not surprisingly. YouTube is 18 months old and if you do the maths, that boils down to about $3 million for every day of its life. So all those brilliant ideas you have as you’re dropping off to sleep… write them down.

HOW TO HAVE AN IDEA WITHOUT GETTING INTO THE BATH

Those ‘eureka’ moments are few and far between – or at least they were… Scientists now know where they occur. A specific region in the brain’s right hemisphere called the anterior superior temporal gyrus is responsible for those flashes of brilliance that led to the invention of so many things. It’s also crucial in the creative process so be creative when stimulating it: assemble a handful of seemingly unconnected thoughts and eat lots and lots of fish!

TLAS – THREE LETTER ACRONYMS. (OR IS IT TWO LETTER ACRONYMS?)

In order to survive in this industry, you need a highly developed command of acronyms. There is one, though, that we’ll never have to get to grips with. ADCOMSUBORDCOMPHIBSPAC is the longest acronym in the world (so far). It is a Navy term standing for Administrative Command, Amphibious Forces, Pacific Fleet Subordinate Command.
