  • IT Strategy Definition – Defining the technical direction to enable the right solutions for the business;
  • Technical Design – Advising on the most appropriate technical design for a given solution;
  • Technical Risk Mitigation – Exploring and advising on potential risks;
  • Implementation Approach – Defining the optimal implementation approach.

IT Strategy Definition

Amaze are web technology solution specialists. Our experience and understanding means we are able to help clients define short, medium and long-term strategies for their web based solutions.

We work with organisations to understand their business objectives and then work with key stakeholders to understand the IT implications for delivering those business objectives through web-based technologies.

From this we are able to help organisations develop a clear view of the technical route forward and the issues / challenges involved.

We work with clients to help them understand the following:

  • The issues within their existing architectures relative to the adoption of web-enabled solutions;
  • Current and near future technical trends;
  • The standards and best practices they should be adopting;
  • The key technical issues to be considered to ensure the business strategy is realised, and the likely timing of those decisions.

Technical Design

We believe that effective technical design is essential to support the delivery of optimal solutions.

Clear technical design models can support the verification of solutions/requirements, identify areas of risk and provide options/ alternatives to procure the optimal solution.

In addition, we consider the user centric elements of the design, which are often overlooked, in purely technical design. Amaze believes this to be critical to the successful adoption of any solution.

Our approach is based on industry standard statements such as UML and covers the following:

  • Appropriate Architectural Style;
  • Conceptual Architecture;
  • Logical Architecture;
  • Component Implementation;
  • Data Modelling / Data Management;
  • Deployment / Infrastructure Considerations;
  • Operational / Support Considerations.

 We typically undertakes technical design to support a range of objectives:

  • As an outsourced activity to help the business address a skills gap;
  • As a means to defining a solution in sufficient detail to enable tendering for outsourced, including offshore, development. In this case Amaze would specify the solution down to individual work-packages together with the associated quality criteria.

Technical Risk Mitigation

Any IT project has risk associated with it. The challenge is to identify and mitigate it.

Our approach is to define and build technical prototypes around key risk areas, such as integration with backend systems and content migration performance, in order to validate thinking.

These prototypes, through learning or code reuse, are then carried forwards into the solution implementation phase.

This approach results in improved overall project execution and control by largely removing the elements of research and discovery through the implementation phase.

Investment in risk mitigation acts as an insurance on the business case. In addition, clearly identified risk mitigation activities, enables the business to pragmatically phase its investment in line with a lower risk profile.

Implementation Approach

The Amaze Implementation Approach service is focused on all of the implications of delivering a solution and establishing a balance between completing pressures.

We help businesses understand what is involved in delivering their solutions both at the individual project level and at the programme level.

The service covers the following:

  • Determining the correct delivery methodology;
  • Addressing the key technical risks with a prototype;
  • Delivering detailed project planning based upon PRINCE2 methods;
  • Offering guidance on delivery resourcing options, for example off-shoring.
